Are you an entrepreneur in the cannabis industry? Looking for the perfect cannabis networking event in the New York or New England areas? NECANN has you covered.
Representing the East Coast cannabis industry, NECANN has been a staple for marijuana entrepreneurs since 2014. Their events showcase the latest cannabis products and services while offering networking and educational opportunities.
Are you just starting your cannabis business? Need a one-stop shop to get more information on the direction you can take and who to partner with? NECANN is the event for you. And the best part is they don’t just operate in the New York metropolitan area. They have events that cover all of New England and the Southeastern states.
So, what can you expect from NECANN New York and Connecticut?
NECANN New York Unpacked
NECANN New York is one of the largest cannabis industry gatherings in the state, up there with giants such as CannaCon. This two-day event’s primary purpose is educational, but there’s a lot more to unpack here.
NECANN hosts over 100 businesses, allowing them to exhibit their latest cannabis products and services. On top of that, every year, there are an estimated 3,000 cannabis industry professionals in attendance. Naturally, this creates several networking mixers in the surrounding areas.
Marc Shepard, Founder and President of NECANN says:
“Like all NECANN events, the New York Cannabis Convention is individually designed for this state’s cannabis market, giving a real opportunity for local industry leaders, advocates, entrepreneurs, career and knowledge seekers, and the canna-curious to come together to learn and meet people paving the way for this exciting new industry.”
NECANN Connecticut Unpacked
NECANN Connecticut is largely the same as the New York event in the sense that it’s a networking and educational opportunity for those involved in cannabis. The key difference is Connecticut’s event represents the entire New England industry, including the states of:
Maine
Massachusetts
Vermont
There are some pros and cons to this expansive convention. Naturally, businesses that can operate interstate (i.e. packaging companies) have a lot of opportunities. However, if you grow or sell cannabis, you will be limited to the network of your state due to current cannabis laws.
Still, with federal legalization coming at some point in the future, it doesn’t hurt to start making business partners across state lines. Furthermore, some industries (such as Massachusetts) are older than others. With that, there’s a lot to be learned from those who’ve been around the block.
The Impact Made on the Cannabis Industry
Since 2014, NECANN has had a significant impact on the industry. Because cannabis remains federally illegal and research into cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is preliminary, there’s still so much to learn. And while more information arises, events like NECANN provide an opportunity for industry experts to come together and pick apart the misinformation.
Furthermore, as discussed, this is a networking event. If you’re in the cannabis business, you already know how many elements there are to this industry: from law regulations to marketing to sourcing quality bud. Naturally, no entrepreneur can juggle all of these at once. Therefore, if you’re in the New York or New England area, events such as NECANN are essential.
Beyond these points, NECANN continues to legitimize cannabis within the United States. As more events like this sprout, more of the general population begins to accept cannabis as normal. And the numbers show – with two-thirds of the country now in support of recreational legalization.
What to Expect from Necann 2025
As of this time, NECANN NY’s official website has not promoted who will attend their 2025 New York event. Still, you can expect plenty of the same companies who attended NECANN 2024. These include resources such as crop controls (Trifecta Naturals), banking solutions (Accounting Buds), and wholesale suppliers (ElectraLeaf).
For New England, NECANN Connecticut doesn’t have a date planned. However, you can catch them on May 2nd and 3rd in Burlington, Vermont. Again, NECANN hasn’t announced exhibitors or speakers. But we expect them to soon.
