We tried out the Strawberry Cough strain from Dutch Passion; a sativa-dominant that takes about 9 weeks from seed to harvest if you’re growing indoors in a greenhouse. Even if you’re forced to grow in the great outdoors, you have a massive variety of seed options available to you through Dutch Passion. Shooting for one of the most purple strains we’ve ever seen, we attempted Frisian Duck. An 8-week flower process, it’s an Indica-dominant hybrid that has unusually shaped leaves compared to most cannabis plants. Ideal for growing in populated areas, the distinctive leaf shape looks like that of a duck’s footprint, which is precisely where the name comes in. A newer development in the world of cannabis seed breeding and cultivation, autofem seeds, or autoflowering feminized seeds, make the idea of growing much easier for beginners and pros alike. An autoflower strain crashes through the growth process in 10 to 13 weeks instead of 6 months like some regular strains require.
With such a short lifespan, one might wonder just how much one plant could produce. While autoflowering strains do produce short, small plants that don’t give the same massive yields a strain with a 6-month growth cycle might, autoflowering plants can still yield 50 to 100 grams per plant on average. Depending on the strain, some Dutch Passion customers of the past have reported 200+ gram yields.
Best grown indoors, autoflowering strains usually need a system for 20 light and 4 dark hours over a 10- to 13-week period depending on the strain.
